Collection SummaryFollow the Marque through changing hands, Corporate sponsorship and the industrial recessionHistoryAn era that started with achievement and promise but ultimately as the industrial climate of the UK changed, the end of BRM as a factory-backed team.
BRM came second in the World Constructors' Championship in 1971, as well as achieving the fastest ever Formula 1 race of the twentieth century with Peter Gethin's win at the 1971 Italian Grand Prix. BRM also led the way with Sponsorship with the iconic logos of Yardley BRM in 1970 and 1971, Marlboro in 1972 and 1973, and Motul in 1974.
Promising young driver Niki Lauda joined the team in 1973, though soon moved onwards.
1974 saw the introduction of the P201 with the distinctive Motul livery but with a poor season, and other priorities within the Rubery Owen Group caused by the worsening industrial climate, this proved to be the end of this chapter for BRM and the final year of BRM factory produced cars.
