DescriptionMays was bought a speed model Hillman for his 21st birthday by his father, Thomas Mays. The Hillman was named 'Quick Silver' by Mays and during his first ever race at the 1920 Cambridge University Auto Hill Climb at Aston Clinton, he won with the quickest time of the whole day.

Quick Silver was modified and tweaked by Mays and his childhood friend, Charles Amherst Villiers and in it's first ever proper race at the Brooklands circuit in Surrey it won with an average of 80mph.
